Who we Are
<- This photo sums up the club. Escaping to beautiful parts of the country with a great group of people!
We are quite simply a family friendly, recreational group of like minded guys and girls sharing the same standards and values, who enjoy riding motorbikes, plain and simple!
We are part of The Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club which is a non profit fraternal organisation of active and retired Law Enforcement Community who enjoy riding motorcycles. The club was originally formed in the Spring of 1974 by a few Law Enforcement Officers in Bangor, Maine ( USA ).
More Historical information of the club can be found at www.blueknights.org
All our members understand the pressures and nature of our work and our club offers a great escape.
We understand that as a motorcyclist, you may find it difficult to find other motorcycling enthusiasts if your own friends do not have motorcycles for you to ride with. This then presents you the dilemma of joining an unknown club or group whereby the members in those groups by witnessing their actions or associations, may cause you a predicament by virtue of your occupation. We recognise that issue, and in our club you will find like minded individuals, upholding the same morals and values that you recognise and associate with.
Some members have also commented that upon leaving or retiring from their Law Enforcement services that they have found it difficult to maintain a link to the comradery and brotherhood they once experienced, coupled with the loss of workplace contacts and friends. We offer one way to help fulfill that void.
We maintain a private, member-only Facebook forum for our members to chat in comfort.
We have members all over the country, so if you're looking to get away for half a day locally or set out and see a new piece of our great country over a few weeks, you'll never be short of a friendly face to share war stories over a frothy brew or cappuccino with.
It doesn't matter if you ride a 250cc, a Harley Davidson or Spyder, all shapes and sizes of bikes and trikes are welcome. We even have quite a few Honda Goldwing members in our ranks!
We have members of all ranks from different Govt agencies, if you are an active or retired member, meet the above membership criteria, you are welcome to apply. We are a multi agency club.

International Club Structure
The Blue Knights organization is divided into 11 conferences, each of which covers a particular geographical area of the globe. Conferences may span several states, provinces, or countries.
All branches belong to a conference, and each branch must have a minimum of 10 members; however, it is not uncommon to be a member of a branch with 100-200 members!
Many of our Blue Knights Branches have their own website with their history, list of members, meeting schedules and location. You may also find pictures, ride and event and calendars and contact information. There is no requirement to have a website, but many branches find web technologies useful and convenient for communicating to their members.
New Zealand is a proud member of the West Coast Conference!
The West Coast Conference is comprised of the 5 Western Canadian Provinces/Territories (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Northwest and Yukon Territories), Northern and Central California, Northern Nevada, the six Northwestern Continental U.S. States (Oregon, Montana, Washington, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah) as well as Alaska, Hawaii, Australia,
New Zealand and pretty much the entire "Pacific Rim" region, excluding Southern California, Southern Nevada and Mexico.
As of March 2014 there were 20,000 members worldwide

FAQ'S
Q: Are the Blue Knights affiliated or associated with Outlaw Motor Cycle gangs ?
A: NO! - The Blue Knights are in no way associated with or affiliated with any Outlaw Motor Cycle gang.
The Blue Knights® is a non-profit fraternal organisation consisting of active and retired men & women in the various Law Enforcement agencies who enjoy riding motorcycles and who meet the membership criteria.
Q: I noticed some members of the Blue Knights in other countries wear a three piece "back patch"
isn't this mimicking the "Bikie" gangs?
A: The three piece "back patch" worn by overseas members of the Blue Knights is to allow for easy identification of Blue Knights members whilst riding and is common in North America and Western Europe. The Blue Knights are resolutely against any criminal behaviour and the majority of members are employed in upholding the laws of the country they represent. Our club bylaws require all members to be in "Good Standing" to retain membership. Any upheld Court conviction will result in an investigation by the Club Executive and potential expulsion from the club.
We recognise that within New Zealand, the wearing of Backpatches is normally associated by the general public as being part of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. We take great effort to distance ourselves from that perception and you will note from our many ride photos that we look just like normal touring motorcyclists.
Pursuant to a special motion passed at the 2014 AGM, No backpatches or any form of rockers will be worn by Blue Knights New Zealand members both in New Zealand or Overseas to reinforce that point.
We carry a range of smart sports orientated club branded apparel for members to wear on club outings which may be viewed in our Merchandise and Apparel section
